Little Red Reading House

In a historic Calgary neighbourhood is a heritage house devoted to promoting a love of reading. Children can visit the house and experience the joy of reading in an environment created for that sole purpose. Calgary Reads, a Calgary-based nonprofit in operation since 2001, created the initiative as part of its mandate to advocate for early literacy. Louisa’s illustrations brought the brand to life on the website, fundraising swag, and the mobile book nook, which brings books and a mobile reading space to all corners of the city.

“It was such a pleasure to have Louisa create the illustrations for Little Red Reading House. It’s a special brand with a great mix of whimsy and joy and inclusivity – all in the context of inspiring a child’s love of reading – and her illustrations so wonderfully represent all these ideas. Louisa so graciously took on the challenge to help tell our unique and complex story, and grew a beautiful palette of illustrations we’ll be proud to use for years to come. Thank you, Louisa!”
